# Create a Project

Create a Project, attach a resource, and start a Project chat.

Use this guide to organize an intelligence task in a Project. You need a Lite, Pro, or Elite workspace and a role with write access. Prepare a report, profile, graph board, or image if you want to attach an existing resource.

## Create the Project

1. Select the workspace that should own the Project.
2. Open **Projects**.
3. Select **New Project**.
4. Enter a name.
5. Add an objective for the decision or investigation.
6. Add standing instructions if needed.
7. Save the Project.

The Project starts active with private context. It keeps its knowledge separate from Global Knowledge.

## Attach a resource

1. Open **Overview**.
2. Search the resource picker.
3. Select a report, profile, graph board, or image you own in this workspace.
4. Attach the resource.

A linked report preserves its stored citations as Project evidence. A linked profile preserves citations from earlier and future reports. Supported report intelligence can also update the graph.

## Start a Project chat

1. Select **New chat** from the Project.
2. Enter a question about the attached material.
3. Review the response and its sources.

The conversation stays bound to the Project and workspace. Switching workspaces hides it until you return.

## Verify the result

Return to **Overview**. Confirm that the resource and recent conversation appear. Check **Timeline** for the activity record.

See [Organize intelligence](https://y2.dev/docs/projects/organizing-intelligence) for evidence, knowledge, sharing, and archiving.
