{"affected":[{"product":"filecoin-pin","source":"CNA: GitHub_M","vendor":"filecoin-project","versions":[{"status":"affected","version":"<= 1.1.0"}]}],"cveId":"CVE-2026-62300","cwes":["CWE-400"],"description":"Filecoin Pin is an IPFS Pinning Service API implementation that pins to Filecoin's PDP service. In daemon deployments up to and including version 1.1.0, `POST /pins` in `src/filecoin-pinning-server.ts` checks a caller-supplied CID with `CID.parse` and passes it to `pinStore.pin`, but does not enforce request rate limits or per-user quotas. In `src/filecoin-pin-store.ts`, each pin independently schedules `_processPinInBackground` with `setTimeout` without a queue, semaphore or concurrency cap, then recursively traverses the full DAG using `helia.pins.add(cid)`. The per-pin Helia/Bitswap node in `src/create-pinning-helia.ts` has no application-level byte, block or traversal-time limits. Blocks are written under `carStoragePath` by `src/core/car/car-blockstore-base.ts` and `src/core/car/car-file-backend.ts`, with `stats.totalSize` updated only after writing. An authenticated caller, or an anonymous caller when `ALLOW_NO_AUTH=true`, can submit large DAGs and exhaust disk, network, CPU, memory and libp2p resources, causing service degradation or host/process failure and leaving partial CAR files requiring recovery. The default localhost binding and token requirement reduce exposure. Because nodes have no bootstrap or mDNS configuration, a CID alone may not be fetchable, but caller-supplied `origins` can point to a reachable attacker-controlled libp2p source; concurrent requests accelerate resource pressure. Version 1.1.1 documents operational mitigations but does not implement the missing resource controls.","epss":{"date":"2026-11-02","percentile":0.16228,"score":0.00249},"exploits":[{"kind":"exploit","source":"ADP: CISA-ADP","url":"https://github.com/filecoin-project/filecoin-pin/security/advisories/GHSA-m5ph-mmg5-6w5h"}],"kev":null,"metrics":[{"score":6.5,"severity":"medium","source":"CNA: GitHub_M","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","version":"3.1"},{"score":6.5,"severity":"medium","source":"NVD: security-advisories@github.com","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","version":"3.1"}],"modifiedAt":1793636261937,"publishedAt":1793391323238,"references":[{"source":"CNA: GitHub_M","tags":["x_refsource_CONFIRM"],"url":"https://github.com/filecoin-project/filecoin-pin/security/advisories/GHSA-m5ph-mmg5-6w5h"},{"source":"CNA: GitHub_M","tags":["x_refsource_MISC"],"url":"https://github.com/filecoin-project/filecoin-pin/commit/8db22b47899deb78dadf415fc477cae4bd6e82c2"},{"source":"ADP: CISA-ADP","tags":["exploit"],"url":"https://github.com/filecoin-project/filecoin-pin/security/advisories/GHSA-m5ph-mmg5-6w5h"},{"source":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"url":"https://github.com/filecoin-project/filecoin-pin/commit/8db22b47899deb78dadf415fc477cae4bd6e82c2"},{"source":"security-advisories@github.com","tags":[],"url":"https://github.com/filecoin-project/filecoin-pin/security/advisories/GHSA-m5ph-mmg5-6w5h"},{"source":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","tags":[],"url":"https://github.com/filecoin-project/filecoin-pin/security/advisories/GHSA-m5ph-mmg5-6w5h"}],"remediation":[],"revision":"a3ae2c39c936b2b8ee70dd73e5b2dab1ce1ed88623a9941a8b4b1e2bf7937a7c","sources":[{"modifiedAt":1793631713210,"name":"CNA: GitHub_M","retrievedAt":1793635760413,"url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-62300"},{"modifiedAt":1793636261937,"name":"NVD","retrievedAt":1793643475981,"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-62300"},{"modifiedAt":null,"name":"FIRST EPSS","retrievedAt":1793635762344,"url":"https://api.first.org/data/v1/epss?cve=CVE-2026-62300"}],"ssvc":{"assessedAt":1793631689977,"automatable":"no","exploitation":"poc","source":"ADP: CISA-ADP","technicalImpact":"partial"},"status":"published","title":"Filecoin Pin: Unbounded DAG pinning can exhaust filecoin-pin server resources","updatedAt":1793643475981}
